Celtic interim-manager John Kennedy has said on Sky Sports Football (2:17pm, May 2, 2021) that he spoke to the referee at half time during the Old Firm derby against Steven Gerrard’s Rangers at Ibrox.
Kennedy has said that Celtic midfielder Callum McGregor should not have been sent off in the Old Firm derby against Rangers this afternoon.
The 27-year-old Scotland international was dismissed for two bookable offences in the 23rd minute.
Celtic interim-manager Kennedy has said that although the second yellow card given to the midfielder was justified, he was not happy with the first caution handed to him and actually spoke to the referee about it at half time.
Kennedy said on Sky Sports Football (2:17pm, May 2, 2021): “Okay, the second tackle, he’s on a yellow and he goes to ground and it’s a red card. That’s not a problem.
“It’s the first yellow. I asked the referee at half time: ‘What did you book McGregor for’? He said it was a reckless tackle. I don’t see any recklessness in it.”
