John Kennedy is now the assistant manager at Celtic.

Celtic assistant manager John Kennedy has suggested to BBC Sport that he would like to become the manager of the club in the future.

Kennedy is now the assistant manager at Celtic and is working under Neil Lennon.

Lennon was appointed as the Celtic manager until the end of the season following the departure of Brendan Rodgers to Leicester City in the Premier League in England.

Former Celtic centre-back Kennedy, 35, has suggested that he would love to take charge of the first team in the future.

Kennedy told BBC Sport: “It’s a dream. It’s not something I’m going to get caught up in and overrule what I do now in terms of trying to become the Celtic manager.”

Future Celtic manager?

Kennedy is unlikely to be given the managerial role at Celtic anytime soon, but in the future the former Celtic centre-back could well be in contention.

The former Scotland international worked under Rodgers at Celtic, and working under Lennon is only going to enrich his knowledge and help him learn.

One suspects that Lennon will be given the managerial role at Celtic on a full time basis, especially if he guides the team to the Scottish Premiership title and Scottish Cup success.
