Divock Origi was an unlikely hero for Liverpool last season.

Divock Origi won the hearts of a lot of Liverpool supporters toward the end of last season, and it looks like he also has a fan in the club’s owner John W Henry.
The Belgium international scored twice in that 4-0 win over Barcelona at Anfield as Jurgen Klopp’s side recovered from a three-goal deficit to reach the Champions League final.
In the showpiece itself, Origi also found the net late on against Tottenham as Liverpool won the competition for a sixth time, scoring the second and last goal to make the game safe when Spurs were threatening an equaliser.
The 24-year-old was virtually a fringe player for the entire 2018-19 campaign, starting only seven games across all competitions after being well behind Roberto Firmino in Klopp’s pecking order.
But Henry, speaking to Press Association, believes that his German manager will use Origi – in line for a new contract – a lot more regularly next term.
He said: “It’s not up to me but I would guess we will see more of Divock next year. I think he brings something special, he comes with power and speed and brings in scoring.”
It really has been a fairytale few months for the former Lille hitman and he is good value for the new deal that he’s reportedly set to be offered [The Echo].
With Daniel Sturridge out of the picture, Origi might just be Firmino’s main competitor for a first-team spot next season and if he plays like he has been, the Brazilian will have to stay on his toes.
