“He’s a good, young player and he is exciting,” Hartson said to the Daily Mail back in 2016.
“His physical presence is fantastic and he is quick. But he’s got to be allowed to develop — he’s got to be cut free, if you like. Potentially, he could be world class.”
Burke would increase the options available to Brendan Rodgers over the second half of the season, and a move to Celtic could appeal to the Scottish international.
Burke needs to get his career back on track, as it has stalled badly in recent times.
The youngster has struggled for appearances at both West Brom and Red Bull Leipzig in recent years, and there are fears that he may never reach his potential.
Celtic will hope to provide Burke with a platform to show his talents once again, if he does join.
And Burke could prove to be a difference maker in the fight for the title over the second half of the campaign, if he hits top form.
