Neil Lennon returned to Celtic on an interim basis recently.

John Hartson has told The Glasgow Evening Times he believes that Celtic caretaker boss Neil Lennon inadvertently revealed that he would stay at Parkhead beyond this season.
Lennon returned to Celtic on an interim basis earlier this month following Brendan Rodgers’s decision to quit the Hoops to join Leicester City in the Premier League.
The Northern Irishman, who has won two of his three games in charge and drawn the other, previously spent four years as the Bhoys manager and delivered three Premiership titles and two Scottish Cups.
Lennon confirmed to The Record last week that he has already spoken to Head of Recruitment Lee Congerton over the transfer strategy this summer.
And Celtic legend Hartson believes that was an admission that he expects to be given the job long term.
“I thought it was interesting to hear him say that he had been involved in discussions with Peter Lawwell and Lee Congerton with regards to identifying summer signing targets,” Hartson told The Glasgow Evening Times.
“And that itself seems to point to a long-term appointment. In any case, I think that it makes sense.”
Keeping Lennon does indeed make sense. He already commands a wealth of respect from those he knows from his previous stint in Glasgow, while somebody of his personality won’t be long earning it from the unfamiliar faces he inherited.
If he finishes the job of leading Celtic to a third successive treble, which he most certainly should, then keeping him beyond the summer is a no-brainer.
