John Hartson celebrates scoring for Celtic
Former Celtic striker John Hartson has taken to Twitter to share a video of what he feels was his most important goal for the Hoops.
The Welshman was a hit at Parkhead after joining from Coventry City in 2001, scoring 109 goals in 201 appearances over five successful seasons.
John Hartson – Celtic celebrates
He was part of the Celtic team who made it to the UEFA Cup final in 2003 and chose his goal against Celta Vigo in the Third Round as his top pick:
Hartson’s goal helped Celtic on their way to a 2-1 win in Spain, overturning a 1-0 home defeat in the first leg and going through to the last 16 on away goals.
The Hoops then progress passed Stuttgart (5-4 on aggregate), Liverpool (3-1 on aggregate) and Boavista (2-1 on aggregate) to set up a final showdown with FC Porto, managed by a then relative unknown in Jose Mourinho.
Martin O’Neill’s men failed to go the distance however, and after taking the game to extra time, conceded a 115th minute goal to finish on the wrong end of a 3-2 scoreline.
