Former rival wants to see some credit for Livingston.

John Hartson commentates during the Barclays Premier League match between Tottenham Hotspur and Hull City at White Hart Lane on May 16, 2015 in London, England.

Former Celtic striker John Hartson says that there has been too much attention on Rangers’ defeat at the weekend.

Rangers lost 1-0 at Livingston, and instead of focusing on Steven Gerrard’s side, the pundit wants to see some credit for the victors.

Hartson told the Evening Times: “They are a solid outfit and they worked their backsides off to get that win over Rangers on Sunday.

“Sometimes I think you need to applaud the way a team engineers a result like that and all the work that goes into it rather than simply playing the blame game.”

As one of Scotland’s highest profile teams with a world famous manager in Steven Gerrard, there is always going to be attention on Rangers whether they win, lose, or draw.

Livingston were promoted last season and they have been flying in their latest Premiership stint.

The win over Rangers was vindication for the progress of Gary Holt’s side.

They now sit in third place in the Scottish Premiership table, one point above Celtic and two ahead of Rangers.

In one of the most unpredictable league campaigns in recent memory, Livingston are good value for their position.
