Frenchman Dembele’s future at Celtic remains up in the air.
Former Celtic striker John Hartson has claimed in his Glasgow Evening Times column that striker Moussa Dembele is up “for sale”, and discussed the fee in which Brendan Rodgers is likely to accept.
Dembele, 21, did not enjoy a season as prolific as his 32-goal, 2016-17 campaign, as he scored just half of that during the 2017-18 term despite featuring 39 times in all competitions.
But due to his age and potential, Dembele is likely to be a name on many shortlists around Europe this summer, as he continues to show the kind of quality of a player expected in the peak of their career.
Hartson believes Dembele is “for sale” at Celtic, though, and reckons Rodgers will be willing to listen to offers worth £25million this summer, if interested parties are to take a look at the France Under-21 international.
“There are none of us here who are privy to whether or not he will still be at Celtic come the end of August. If the club receive a £25m offer for a player they paid £500k for then it is, frankly, impossible to turn down,” Hartson said.
“Right now, the French striker is actively for sale and I wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest if there was a major bid that came in for him this summer because he is an outstanding striker who has the potential to play at the very top level.”
French giants Marseille were the latest club to be linked with a move for Dembele back in March, with the former Fulham striker shortlisted alongside Vincent Aboubakar and Kevin Gameiro.
Dembele has two years remaining on his current Celtic contract, which the Daily Star claim is worth £25,000 a week.
