Celtic drew 1-1 at Borussia Monchengladbach on Tuesday night.

Celtic hero and current pundit John Hartson has taken to Twitter to praise the Bhoys for their Champions League performance against Borussia Monchengladbach.

The Bhoys travelled to Germany on Tuesday evening to take on Gladbach for the second time in two weeks, having lost 2-0 at home to the Bundesliga side last month.

Celtic needed to win to stand any realistic chance of qualifying for the knockout stages of the Champions League, but looked to be heading towards defeat when Lars Stindl put Gladbach in front.

However, Celtic did hit back, as Moussa Dembele won and scored a penalty, with defender Julian Korb being sent off for the foul – but Celtic couldn’t find a late winner, and left with a 1-1 draw.

The result leaves Celtic bottom of Group C, two points behind third-placed Gladbach, with the two sides seemingly battling for that third spot, which results in qualification for the Europa League.

Ultimately though, manager Brendan Rodgers will just be pleased with how his side performed in Germany, giving Gladbach a real fight having been swept aside in Glasgow two weeks ago.

After the final whistle, Celtic hero and current pundit John Hartson took to Twitter to offer his praise to the Bhoys, crediting their ‘outstanding effort’ against the odds.

The Welshman added that Celtic played with great desire and commitment, proving people wrong after that disappointing defeat to the Bundesliga outfit in October.
