Celtic picked up a vital away goal as they drew 1-1 with Astana in the Champions League today – and John Hartson was pleased with the result.
Having beaten Lincoln Red Imps in the last round, Celtic travelled to Kazakhstan to take on Astana in the Champions League qualifiers, and were in trouble when Yuri Logvinenko headed the home side in front.

However, Celtic did grab a vital away goal as last season’s top goalscorer Leigh Griffiths struck with 12 minutes to play, and whilst both sides went for a winner, the game ended 1-1.
Celtic are now in the driving seat to make it through to the next round after today’s result, and will play the second leg at Celtic Park next week.

Manager Brendan Rodgers will certainly be pleased with how his side responded to going behind, and will surely feel confident of completing the win next week.
After today’s game, former Celtic striker John Hartson took to Twitter to give his view on the result, and believes Celtic should be pleased with a draw.

The Welshman feels that Griffiths’ away goal will be crucial, and thinks the Bhoys have to be happy with a 1-1 draw having been behind for almost an hour.
Hartson also pointed out that a poor pitch and a long journey were factors to consider when evaluating Celtic’s overall performance, which fell short of the mark for many despite the positive outcome.
