Karl Darlow was questionable in Newcastle United’s latest defeat.

John Hartson has told BBC Sport that Newcastle United goalkeeper Karl Darlow was responsible for letting Leicester City back into the game on Saturday.
The Foxes left St James’s Park with a dramatic 3-2 win after Ayoze Perez’s late own goal consigned Newcastle to a sixth defeat in seven games, leaving the Magpies just two points above the drop zone.
Joselu had fired Rafael Benitez’s side into an early lead which was cancelled out on 20 minutes when Riyad Mahrez’s effort beat Darlow from 25 yards.

It was a fine strike from the Algerian, but television replays suggest that the Newcastle keeper could have perhaps done better, and Hartson tells BBC Sport that the 27-year-old will be disappointed by it.
He said: “It’s a great strike but Darlow has got to save it. He really, really has – its gone through his finger tips.
“When he sees that he’ll be disappointed, a player in the Premier League should be able to stop shots like that.”

Demarai Gray then fired City ahead on the hour mark but an equaliser from Dwight Gayle on 73 minutes looked to have rescued a point, but Perez’s own goal in the dying minutes scuppered that ambition.
Darlow only replaced Rob Elliot as Newcastle’s number one last week and it will be interesting to see whether Benitez overturns the decision on the back of that error.
