Arsenal have made a strong start to this season, both domestically and in Europe.
Former Arsenal striker John Hartson has predicted to the Daily Star that the club could spend big money in the January transfer window.
The Gunners have enjoyed a strong start to the campaign, currently sitting level at the top of the Premier League alongside Manchester City.
Their form in the Champions League has also been strong, with the 6-0 win over Ludogorets on Wednesday evening taking them to the top of Group A.
Arsenal’s summer’s signings have played a big role in their success, with the likes of Granit Xhaka and Shkodran Mustafi settling well into the team.
It leaves their fans hoping for success this season and Hartson has predicted that manager Arsene Wenger may spend big to secure it.
“There’s money there,” he told the Daily Star.
“If he’s in and around the top three come January and they just need that other player that’ll cost them £30m to £40m, I think they’ve got the capacity to do that.”
While Arsenal may have the money to spend in the January transfer window, it would be surprising to see them do so.
They arguably have one of their best squads in a number of years and their major flaw, the lack of a striker, appears to have been fixed by moving Alexis Sanchez into a central role.
Wenger has often spoken of his distaste for the winter window, making any moves this time around appear unlikely.
Of course, if the right player becomes available, then perhaps the Frenchman will change that stance to try to ensure his side are competitors right until the very end of the campaign.
