Celtic icon John Hartson has urged supporters to cheer up on Twitter after his former side were completely outclassed by Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday night in the Champions League.

Despite gaining the lead, Brendan Rodgers’ side lost 7-1 at Parc des Princes as goals from Kylian Mbappe, Marco Verratti, Dani Alves and braces from Neymar and Edinson Cavani saw Celtic’s defence evaporate into thin air.

The Hoops remain in third place in Group B after Belgian champions Anderlecht suffered a narrow 2-1 loss to German giants Bayern Munich, with midfielder Corentin Tolisso scoring late on to give Jupp Heynckes’ side all three points.

Celtic now face Anderlecht in a decider to see who qualifies for the Europa League knockout stages after Christmas, and Hartson told Celtic fans that they “would have settled” for the position they are in now five games ago.

Celtic took the lead within a minute of kick-off, as Moussa Dembele and Olivier Ntcham combined to score the first goal that PSG have conceded in the Champions League group stage.

The Hoops sit on three points in third, while Anderlecht are in fourth without a win. If the Belgians beat Celtic in the last Group B clash on December 5, then it will go down to goal difference as both sides have the same head-to-head record.

Celtic currently sit on minus 12 after scoring five and conceding 17, but Anderlecht only managed their first goal of the campaign on Wednesday night and have also conceded 17 – giving Celtic a strong position to qualify.
