Celtic remain on course to win the treble for the third straight season.
John Hartson spoke exclusively to the Glasgow Evening Times about Celtic’s season so far, and highlighted two key factors that could prevent his former club from winning a historic third consecutive domestic treble.
The Hoops already have one trophy in the bag this season, after beating Aberdeen in the League Cup on Sunday, and they need just two more trophies to make in nine out of nine over the past three seasons.
Celtic currently sit in second spot in the Scottish Premiership table, one point adrift of Rangers, although they do have a game in hand over their fierce rivals.
Brendan Rodgers’ side seem to have kicked into gear over the past month or so, and it would take a brave man to bet against them winning the treble this season.
Hartson, though, identified two key factors that could prevent the Hoops from winning all three major domestic trophies this season, when speaking exclusively to the Glasgow Evening Times:
“Having won the Betfred League Cup on Sunday the whole focus now will really be on a Treble Treble. The fans will talk about it now. They want it, they’ll dream of it and from where I stand, I think Celtic can do it. They have the best squad in the country. They have the best players, they have the bit between their teeth and they have a manager who has proven himself to be top class. The only thing that can beat them is complacency. And not investing in January.”
Next up for Celtic is a trip to Motherwell tomorrow night as they continue their quest to win the league for the eighth consecutive season.
The real test for Rodgers’ side, however, will be their trip to Ibrox to take on Rangers on December 29th, and the Hoops will be hoping to head into that game on top of the pile.
