The Gunners are reportedly negotiating for the Valencia defender.

Speaking on talkSPORT, John Hartson has blasted Arsenal’s move for Shkodran Mustafi, saying it has become a shambles.
The Gunners are in the hunt for a new central defender after injuries to Per Mertesacker and Gabriel Paulista in pre-season left them short of senior centre backs.
Valencia defender Mustafi appears to be the man that they have targeted, although so far a deal has yet to be completed.
Indeed, a move is looking less likely as time goes on, with the Mirror now reporting that the La Liga side how now told Arsene Wenger’s side that they must pay £50 million for the Germany international.

That is news that will enrage Arsenal fans, and Hartson has blasted the protracted move, saying it has become a shambles.
“This is a shambles this Mustafi thing, it’s turning into a disgrace,” he told talkSPORT.
“Valencia were going to do the deal for £30 million and all of a sudden they’ve got up to £50 million. I’d just say forget it now if I was Arsene Wenger.”

It now remains to be seen if Arsenal can secure a deal for Mustafi before the end of the transfer window.
At this moment in time it appears that will not happening especially if the reports about Valencia’s asking price prove to be true.
That will leave Arsenal short again, a situation that is not likely to reduce the pressure currently in Arsene Wenger’s shoulders.
