Celtic will be making a managerial appointment this summer.

John Hartson commentates during the Barclays Premier League match between Tottenham Hotspur and Hull City at White Hart Lane on May 16, 2015 in London, England.

Pundit and ex-Celtic striker John Hartson has told the Daily Record that he knows ‘four or five’ managers who want the Bhoys job – but won’t name them.

Celtic saw Brendan Rodgers leave the club in abrupt fashion back in February, surprisingly leaving the club mid-season for a return to the Premier League with Leicester City.

The Bhoys moved quickly though, bringing back former manager Neil Lennon as their interim boss just weeks after he parted company with Hibernian.

Lennon has yet to lose a game since returning to Celtic, putting himself in a strong position to land the job permanently, and his position will be strengthened once he wins the Scottish Premiership and if he can secure the Scottish Cup too.

The Northern Irishman is certainly the favourite for the job right now, but Celtic would be foolish not to consider other candidates given the magnitude of the decision they’re about to make.

Lennon is keeping Celtic moving, but the football has been criticised, and recent league games have seen the goals dry up a little, with fans maybe hoping a more expansive manager will be considered.

Now, pundit Hartson claims he’s heard ‘four or five’ outside candidates want the Celtic job, but wouldn’t name any of them whilst believing they’d all be successful at Parkhead – but so would Lennon in the Welshman’s opinion.

“I would like Neil to continue as manager but there are candidates out there,” said Hartson. “There’s four or five but I won’t say who they are. I know they would come to Celtic and do a great job, though. Neil would also do a great job – it just comes down to whether he’d get the decision,” he added.
