John Hartson has told The Glasgow Evening Times he does not believe that Celtic icon Scott Brown gets enough credit for his technical ability.

Brown cleaned up at Celtic’s End of Season award ceremony on Sunday and he might well be captaining the Hoops to more silverware in the coming weeks.

Victory over Rangers at Ibrox on Sunday would see the Bhoys pick up a seventh successive Premiership title, and move one step closer to helping Brendan Rodgers’s side record back-to-back domestic trebles.

The 32-year-old is often seen as a physical, no-nonsense midfielder for Celtic, but club legend Hartson feels that the Scottish legend receives unjust criticism and not enough praise for his footballing skill.

“I think it is often overlooked that technically he is a very good footballer. You just don’t last at Celtic for a decade without having that,” he told The Glasgow Evening Times.

“I hear people often slag him off and say that he winds people up but for me he is an outstanding footballer.

“I also think that 99 times out of 100 you could take him into a group of people and introduce him – and they would all come away with a very different impression.”

Brown is indeed a very talented player and despite having a hard man image, can actually play football too.
