Celtic suffered a disappointing Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich on Wednesday night.

John Hartson has told ESPN’s live post-match coverage of Celtic’s Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich (broadcast on 18th October 2017 from 19:00) that Craig Gordon made some great saves in the Allianz Arena, but suggested that the other aspects of his game concern him.
The Hoops’ ambitious hopes of putting pressure on the group’s top two appear to have been dashed as they suffered a 3-0 defeat to the Bundesliga giants, to leave them three points off their opponents in third spot in their group.
Despite being considerable underdogs heading into the game, there were arguably few players in the side who can be particularly content with their performance, perhaps except Gordon, who made a handful of excellent saves to help keep the score fairly respectable.
And Hartson heaped praise upon some of the saves that the 34-year-old made, but admitted that some of the other parts of his game are not up to scratch.
“He stands strong, okay it’s straight at him, but that’s what he’s capable of. But it’s the other side of his game, the kicking and the poor mistakes, not being aware what’s around him, he’s lacking in that side of it. But in terms of shot-stopping, he made some great saves tonight.”
Gordon’s performance may not have been perfect, but some of the saves may perhaps been important for him as the game came after Dorus De Vries’ excellent display at the weekend when Brendan Rodgers made a number of changes.
And in truth, it would undoubtedly be unfair to suggest that the areas of Gordon’s game that concern Hartson played a significant part in Celtic’s disappointing night in Munich.
