Former Aston Villa boss John Gregory was delighted to see his former side record another win as they beat a hapless Bristol City.
Victories for the Villans have been in short supply in 2017, but they now have two wins in a row after seeing off Derby County at the weekend.
Gregory sent a message out showing his support late in the game – admitting he had a little pre-game punt on Steve Bruce’s side winning 3-0.
Villa fell narrowly short, but a win of any type was essential to start building a little momentum after a wretched previous few weeks.
Former star Ian Taylor was also pleased to see Villa score, celebrating their goals with messages on social media, as was Stan Collymore.
Gregory’s former side invested heavily in January and had become the butt of many a joke, while pressure was building on experienced boss Steve Bruce.
What was most impressive about Villa’s win, is that they have now gone two games in a row keeping clean sheets.
The three points moved them into 15th place, just one point behind rivals Birmingham City, who beat Wolves on Friday evening.
