Everton midfielder Tom Davies has started just five times so far this season.

John Collins has told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast Show, which was broadcast on TalkSPORT on 19th October, that Tom Davies should be starting for Everton.

Davies enjoyed a wonderful breakthrough season last term, when his talent caught the eye.

However, after a summer of big investment, Davies has lost his place in Everton’s first-team.

Ronald Koeman has preferred to partner Morgan Schneiderlin with Idrissa Gueye in Everton’s midfield, but neither of the pair have been in great form.

And Collins believes that Davies should come back into contention for the Toffees.

“It’s so often the case that you buy players and the young players get pushed to the side. I’d like to see him back in the side,” Collins said.

Davies has started just five matches for Everton this term, but he could be handed an opportunity this evening.

The Toffees are set to take on Lyon tonight in Europa League action, and the pressure is on them to pick up the three points.

Everton have failed to win either of their Europa League group stages to date, and they will need to find the winning formula soon, if they are to qualify for the next stage of the competition.
