Barton departed Rangers this week after playing just eight games for the club.
Former Celtic star John Collins has slammed Joey Barton to BBC Radio 5 Live, saying he talked too much and didn’t produce for Rangers.
The midfielder joined the Gers in the summer transfer window, electing to pass up Premier League football with Burnley to make the move to Scotland.
At the time the move was seen as something of a coup for Mark Warburton and his team, especially after Barton had been named the Championship player of the year with the Clarets.

He proved to be a disastrous signing, though; making just eight appearances for the club before having his contract terminated this week after being suspended following a clash with Mark Warburton and Lee Wallace in training.
It is fair to say the move has ended up being one of the worst in the club’s history but Collins clearly feels the blame lies with the midfielder.
“It has been a disappointing signing that’s for sure, for Rangers,” he told BBC Radio 5 Live.
“Mark Warburton probably gave him a very good contract, expected him to come up and perform, control games.
“He got off to a poor start, first and foremost he talked too much, talking what he was going to do to Scott Brown and he couldn’t produce, never produced against Celtic.”
Rangers’ Joey Barton looks dejected
It will certainly be interesting to see what happens to Barton following his departure from Rangers.
Despite things going disastrously at Ibrox, he is likely to still have plenty of offers available to him moving forward.
His best options are likely to come from the Championship, with several sides sure to think he could have a similar impact to the one he had at Burnley.
