Former Celtic player and club legend John Clark has said that Kieran Tierney is the best left-back in Scotland at the moment. And therefore, he should be picked ahead of Liverpool’s Andy Robertson in his natural left-back position.

Robertson, who joined Liverpool in the summer, has been used as a left-back for Scotland. Tierney has been asked to play on the opposite flank, which by the player’s own admission, limits his natural game.

Tierney, 20, has enjoyed a rapid rise at Celtic, but has been forced to play on the right-hand side for his national team to accommodate Robertson.

Clark, who was inducted into the Scottish Football Hall of Fame, said that Tierney is the best left-back in the country at the moment.

Any competition for places is good for both the players, but Tierney has more strength and aggression than Robertson.

“Kieran Tierney is the best left back,” said Clark, as quoted by The Daily Record. If he has competition from another player then it is good for him, it is good for the players trying to get in as well, pushing each other.

“But I think he has more strength and aggression about him than Andy Robertson. Robertson is a good touch player but Tierney is aggressive as well.”

Tierney has made some eye-catchy performances for Celtic this season already. On the other hand, Robertson has struggled for regular games at Anfield under Jurgen Klopp.
