Speaking to talkSPORT, Liverpool legend John Barnes has warned Daniel Sturridge he won’t win a power struggle with Jurgen Klopp at the club.

The striker recently complained at being used in a wide role in the defeat to Burnley, and subsequently found himself on the bench for the draw with Tottenham.

He is facing a fight for his place in the current team, with Roberto Firmino, Divock Origi and Danny Ings all arguably ahead of him at present.

His being dropped has been construed as something of a sign from Jurgen Klopp, and Barnes has warned the striker he would not win any potential power struggle.

“There is only going to be one winner – and that will be the manager,” he told talkSPORT.

“Daniel may have to change his attitude a little bit to what the manager wants if that situation is going to be resolved.”

The problem for Liverpool is that Sturridge is arguably the best striker they have on their books.

He has already proven that in the past when they were close to being title winners under Brendan Rodgers and indeed proved his worth at times last season.

That makes him too valuable an asset to lose, especially if they want a top four place and finding a solution to this brewing conflict would be a wise choice for all parties.
