Speaking to talkSPORT, former Liverpool star John Barnes has urged time and patience for youngster Ben Woodburn.
The young midfielder made the headlines this week as he became the club’s youngest goalscorer with a strike against Leeds United in the EFL Cup breaking Michael Owen’s 19-year-old record.
It was an exciting moment for the Anfield faithful, who are hopeful the midfielder is a homegrown talent for the future.

Manager Jurgen Klopp has been keen to dampen expectations around his youngster, though, admitting he was worried the media would overhype him.
And Barnes is similarly concerned, urging fans to give Woodburn time to develop without pressure.
“It was a great night for him but as Jurgen Klopp said after the game, we need to handle him carefully,” he told talkSPORT.
“He’s not a member of the first-team, but he’s got potential, as a lot of them have. We have to give them time.”

It will certainly be interesting to see how Woodburn develops at Anfield in the coming years.
He clearly has talent and is arguably under a perfect manager in Jurgen Klopp to aid his development.
The German has a strong record of developing young talent and has already shown in his time at Anfield that he is willing to give youth a chance in the first team.
Woodburn is clearly one for the future and Reds fans will be hoping Klopp can help to turn him into a future first team star.
