Speaking on the Super Six Podcast, John Barnes has selected Leeds United’s Kalvin Phillips ahead of Harry Kane as his England representative in his fantasy 5-a-side team.
Barnes was asked to pick a 5-a-side team made up of who he thinks are the best players at Euro 2020, and he chose Phillips in the midfield.
Barnes initially had both Phillips and Kane, but he mistakenly only chose Kane because he felt he needed to have an Englishman in his team, seemingly forgetting that he had already selected Phillips.
Upon being told that he had two English players in his side, Barnes opted to drop Kane rather than Phillips, bringing Kylian Mbappe into the side instead.
What’s been said?
Barnes picked Philips alongside Kante and Mbappe in his 5-a-side team, opting to drop Kane instead of the Leeds star.
“In midfield I would have Kante and Phillips, and up front I would have Harry Kane. Up front I would have Harry Kane, normally I would have Kylian Mbappe, but I know if I don’t have Harry Kane people are going to say where are the Englishmen, so I would put Kane up front,” Barnes said.
“Actually Phillips is in there, so because Phillips is in there I will pick Mbappe.”

What a team
Could you imagine the havoc that side would cause?
Barnes also had Gianluigi Donarumma, Leonardo Bonucci and Giorigio Chiellini making up his 5-a-side team, and we have to say that his side is almost unbeatable.
Kante and Phillips is a dream partnership, while Mbappe is an absolutely incredible attacker.
It is interesting to note that Barnes opted to keep Phillips in the side ahead of Kane when he needed a representative from England, but that just goes to show how good the Yorkshire Pirlo is these days, despite the fact he’s only represented his country nine times.
