Celtic take on Zenit St. Petersburg in the Europa League later this evening.

John Barnes has told HITC, speaking on behalf of Bonus Code Bets, that he believes Celtic can progress deep into this season’s Europa League competition.
Celtic take on Zenit St. Petersburg later this evening in the first knockout stage of the competition, in what looks to be a tough test for Brendan Rodgers’ side.
And Barnes believes that Celtic will pose problems for their Russian opponents.
The former Celtic boss said: “They are playing with confidence, the Europa League should suit them and I think they could make a good fist of the competition and go quite far into it, while winning the league in Scotland.”

Celtic already have established an eight point lead in the Scottish Premiership table, and they have been the dominant force in domestic football.
The Bhoys have almost wrapped up the league title at this early stage, but Rodgers has made no secret of his desire to progress in Europe.

Celtic’s task of beating Zenit will not be easy though, as Roberto Mancini has a squad packed with quality.
Zenit are currently in second place in the Russian Premier League, after a strong season so far.
Celtic may be able to catch them off guard though, as Zenit have not played a competitive game since December, due to the winter break.
John Barnes was speaking exclusively to HITC on behalf of Bonus Code Bets.
