Mousa Dembele is one of Tottenham Hotspur’s best players.
Speaking to Sky Sports’ Goals on Sunday program, John Arne Riise has praised Tottenham Hotspur’s “unbelievable” Mousa Dembele.
The Belgian midfielder helped Spurs to a 2-1 win at Stoke City on Saturday.
With the exception of perhaps Harry Kane, the 30-year-old might be Tottenham’s best player this calendar year after a series of outstanding performances in huge games for the Lilywhites.
Riise is a former team-mate of Dembele’s following the duo’s time together at Fulham.
And the ex-Liverpool left-back, a Champions League winner in 2005, has praised his old team-mate and claimed that it’s astonishing to him how Dembele – who only played six minutes of Belgium’s 4-0 win over Saudi Arabia during the international break – does not feature more for his country.
He told Sky Sports’ Goals on Sunday program, broadcast on April 8, 2018: “He’s one of the toughest, strongest players I have played with. He’s unbelievable. At Fulham, in training, he did things that no-one had ever seen before.
“He’s so in control. His body movement with the ball and his feet are unbelievable. How he doesn’t play for Belgium, I don’t know, but he has been unbelievable for Tottenham.”
The Telegraph reported this past week that Dembele could leave Tottenham this summer unless a three-year contract extension is tabled.
The former Fulham ace, who earns £90k-a-week in North London, only has a year to go on his existing deal this summer and, based on his performances this year, surely Spurs will agree to his reported demands.
