John Arne Riise has praised Liverpool defender Nathaniel Clyne on Twitter for his performance against Manchester United.
Clyne featured for Liverpool in their Premier League game against United at Anfield on Sunday evening.
The 27-year-old right-back started the match and played for the entire 90 minutes, as Jurgen Klopp’s side won 3-1.
It was the England international defender’s first start in the Premier League since May, and although there were occasions when the right-back looked a bit short of match fitness, his overall performance was very encouraging.
According to WhoScored, the 27-year-old former Crystal Palace and Southampton right-back took two shots, had a pass accuracy of 87.8%, won one header, and made four tackles and one interception.
Former Liverpool star Riise was following the match, and he was impressed with the display produced by Clyne.
The win against United means that Liverpool are now a point clear of second-placed Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table.
