James Milner is currently ahead of Alberto Moreno in the left-back pecking order.
John Arne Riise scores against Manchester United 2001
Former Liverpool defender John Arne Riise has had his say on Twitter in relation to both of Liverpool’s left-back options ahead of this weekend’s game with Manchester United.
James Milner has been selected ahead of Alberto Moreno in the role for much of the season so far after Moreno had an error strewn end to last season, and then failed to cover himself in glory on the opening day of this campaign.

Moreno conceded a penalty in the 4-3 opening day win over Arsenal, with many also suggesting he was at fault for the opening goal.
Ever since, the Spaniard has been reduced to substitute appearances, but started the EFL Cup win over Derby, where he performed solidly in a 3-0 victory.
Riise gave his opinion on the Spaniard after being asked what he needs to do to get back into the side:
Riise was also asked if he felt that Moreno was in Klopp’s plans, and gave a pretty straight answer:
Milner has been winning many plaudits for the way he has adapted to the role given he has played across the midfield for the majority of his career, and the Yorkshireman seems to have another fan in the form of the Norwegian.
Asked what he thought of the Reds’ vice-captain playing in that role:
Milner is expected to start against United in that position at the weekend but Riise is right about what Moreno should do to get back into the team in just keeping his head down and working hard. He will get his opportunity, though it may not be a run of games, but it is important he performs well whenever he was called upon. He looked far more solid in the win over Derby last month, though it was against struggling Championship opposition.
As it stands, Milner is probably on course for a better goalscoring record than Riise had in the role, albeit because of his record from the penalty spot as he’s dispatched all four spot-kicks that have come Liverpool’s way so far this season, as opposed to the long range efforts we saw from Riise down the years.
