Liverpool’s Alberto Moreno impressed in a pre-season friendly win over
Former Liverpool defender John Arne Riise has challenge Alberto Moreno to produce his pre-season form when it counts.
Moreno started for the Reds in their impressive 3-0 Audi Cup victory over Bayern Munich last night, and played one of his better games for the club.
The former Sevilla defender has struggled at Liverpool since his 2014 move, but last night was like watching a different player.
Ex-Liverpool left-back Riise was among those watching, and reached out to the Spaniard to let him know it is still not too late to become a top player for the Reds.
It is of course only pre-season, and Liverpool thumped Barcelona 4-0 at Wembley last season, but still went onto record another trophyless campaign.
Moreno faces extra competition for his first team spot this season after the recent addition of Hull City left-back Andrew Robertson.
If he plays like he did last night then he will have little reason to worry about his place in Jurgen Klopp’s plans.
