Former Liverpool defender John Arne Riise has hit out at Mario Balotelli on Twitter, insisting Liverpool fans are the best in the world.
Balotelli departed Anfield in the summer transfer window after a disastrous two-year spell at Anfield.
He went on to join Ligue 1 side Nice on a free transfer and has reinvented himself at the club, playing a key role as they have risen to the top of the division.
He is clearly loving life across the channel and recently claimed that of all of the clubs he has played for, Nice had the best supporters.
Riise, though, refuses to accept those comments and hit out at the Italian on Twitter.
While Riise has not taken kindly to Balotelli’s comments, Liverpool are unlikely to be too bothered by what their former man has had to say.
The Italian has not been missed at Anfield, with the Reds currently a point clear at the top of the table after 11 games of the season.
Liverpool’s focus will be firmly on staying there for as long as possible and mounting a title challenge rather than what Balotelli has had to say.
