John Aldridge has claimed in The Sunday World that Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool will fall further behind if Manchester City sign Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur.
The former Liverpool striker had earlier spoken about the need for Klopp’s side to sign Tottenham striker Kane.
The 27-year-old striker has reportedly told Spurs that he wants to leave this summer, with Pep Guardiola’s side keen on him.
The Telegraph claims that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy wants as much as £150 million as transfer fee for Kane.
Aldridge believes that if City are able to sign Kane this summer, the they will go further ahead of Liverpool.
The former Liverpool star wrote in The Sunday World: “No one will be surprised if Kane joins City. If that deal goes through, it will take Pep Guardiola’s side to a different level and push them clear of Liverpool’s reach.”
City won the Premier League title this past season, and Liverpool finished third.
There was a difference of 17 points between the two sides.

Now, the Reds had injury problems. Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Joel Matip and Thiago all spent time on the sidelines.
City were very consistent and scored goals despite Sergio Aguero’s injury problems and Gabriel Jesus not always playing.
Kane won the Premier League Golden Boot this past season and is one the best strikers in the world.
City will become even more potent and threatening in attack with Kane in the team.
