Will Liverpool have a big advantage in the Premier League title race?

John Aldridge has written in The Sunday World that his former club Liverpool have a “massive advantage” in this season’s Premier League title race.
Liverpool kick off the campaign with a tricky visit to Arsenal on Sunday.
Finishing eighth in the Premier League last term, coupled with a Europa League final defeat by Sevilla, has deprived Jurgen Klopp of European football in his first full season as Reds manager.

This essentially means that Klopp’s side have less distractions than Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester City and Manchester United might have.
And Alridge believes that a lack of Champions League or Europa League competition may just fancy Liverpool in the title hunt this season.

He wrote in The Sunday World: “This is a season when Liverpool will not have any European football to distract them and history has shown that can be a massive advantage during a title race.”
Liverpool have never won the Premier League in its current form and fans are desperate to see them reign supreme in England once more.
But they certainly seem like a side very much on the up under Klopp, and there will be many supporters who feel optimistic about a title tilt – whether they can sustain it is another story.
