It was announced today that Pedro Chirivella had left Liverpool.

The 23-year-old joined the Reds way back in 2013 but managed only the one Premier League appearance.

His contract at Liverpool was set to expire and Chirivella has now joined Ligue 1 outfit Nantes.

Here’s how Jurgen Klopp’s assistant John Achterberg reacted to the news on Twitter.

If we’re honest, this is an excellent move for the midfielder.

Having spent seven years on Merseyside, Chirivella probably wanted nothing more than to succeed at Anfield, but the reality is that he’s 23 and needed regular football.

The truth is that he was effectively a 23-year-old Under-23 player, which is a big sign that he needed to move on and it’ll be interesting to see how he fares in France next season and beyond.

The Valencia-born player has previously had a couple of loan spells in the Netherlands with Go Ahead Eagles and Willem II.
