The Ibrox defender has recently been given an opportunity in the Rangers starting lineup.

Helander has had limited opportunities in Steven Gerrard’s starting eleven so far this season, with the Gers boss primarily turning to Connor Goldson and Niko Katic as his central defensive pairing.
Coming into the side against Feyenoord last week though, he’s helped his new side keep two clean sheets in two matches and is well placed to retain his place in the team.
Mjallby, who won multiple Scottish honours with Rangers’ city rivals as a player and coach, feels he has the right attributes to be a success in the country.
As quoted by The Evening Times, he said: “Filip is a steady centre half who reads the game well.
“He’s done well for Sweden when he’s played and he’s been in Italy for a number of years. He’s probably not the quickest but he’s steady, good in the air and decent on the ball without being really pacy.
“He’s quite aggressive and he’ll definitely be suited to Scottish football.”
What next for Helander?
Having made just three competitive appearances for the Gers so far, Helander will clearly want to ramp up his football in Gerrard’s team.
The Swedish international may have expected to play more since his multi-million pound arrival. His next goal must be solidifying his status at the heart of the defensive line.
Two positive appearances over the last week will have done his chances no harm and it’ll be fascinating to see which pairing the Ibrox boss goes for over the coming weeks and months.

Gerrard should at least give the 26-year-old an extended run in the team to show what he can do. No judgement can really be made on his progress without a body of games under his belt.
Having invested a fair bit of money in his services, he’s not one that the club will be expecting to sit on the sidelines for too long.
