Johan Mjallby responds when asked if he’d return to Celtic under Lennon

Ex-Celtic defender Johan Mjallby has commented on a possible return to the club.

Former Celtic ace Johan Mjallby has told Open Goal that he would ‘definitely’ be interested in reuniting with Neil Lennon at Parkhead this summer.

Celtic brought former boss Lennon back to the club in February, calling in the Northern Irishman as interim boss following Brendan Rodgers’ move to Leicester City.

Lennon had just left Hibernian weeks earlier, and his availability really was perfect for Celtic in terms of having somebody they could rely on to steady the ship until the summer.

Lennon is yet to lose a game in his second stint as Celtic boss, and is edging closer to finishing off a third straight domestic treble for the club.

Whilst Celtic will be considering other options, Lennon is the undoubted favourite to become Bhoys manager on a permanent basis, with the 47-year-old already eyeing potential summer signings.

Lennon may also look to re-tool his staff given that Rodgers took a number of his backroom team to Leicester, and Mjallby could feature in those plans.

Mjallby featured alongside Lennon with Celtic in the early 2000’s, and then joined up with him as a coach at Parkhead in 2010 before even working together at Bolton Wanderers.

Now, the Swede has been asked whether he would be interested in coming back to Celtic this summer if Lennon lands the job permanently, and he offered just four words in response; “Oh, most definitely, yes,” said Mjallby.

Lennon may subsequently be wise to get on the phone to the former Celtic defender and tee up a summer reunion in preparation for landing the job permanently.
