Johan Djourou has hailed former club Arsenal for the signing of Granit Xhaka.
Switzerland’s Granit Xhaka
Former Arsenal defender Johan Djourou has taken to Twitter to rave about the Gunners’ signing of midfielder Granit Xhaka.
Xhaka, 23, had been at Basel before joining Borussia Monchengladbach in 2012, where has has racked up 140 appearances and nine goals, becoming one of the top midfielders in the Bundesliga in the process.

Now though, Xhaka is an Arsenal player after signing a long-term contract with the club on Wednesday, with BBC Sport reporting that the fee paid by Arsene Wenger was around £35m.
Xhaka, a talented midfielder who can tackle, pass and shoot from range, should be a huge addition to the Arsenal midfield – and the deal has been praised by somebody well placed to talk about Arsenal and Xhaka.

Former Arsenal defender Johan Djourou, who left the club on a permanent basis in 2014, has been a Swiss international team-mate of Xhaka in recent years – and he has taken to Twitter in order to offer his opinion on the transfer.
Djourou sent a message out to Gunners fans on Twitter, telling them that Arsenal have signed a ‘very courageous, very intelligent’ player who will bring skill and power to Wenger’s midfield.

Djourou also welcomed Xhaka to Arsenal, and after the Hamburg centre back spent ten years at Arsenal, the Gunners will be hoping that Xhaka can have a similarly lengthy spell in North London – though with more success than Djourou had.
