The former Gunners star would be a superb addition to the Leeds United squad.
Thomas Christiansen
New Whites boss Thomas Christiansen has a lot of work to do at Elland Road this summer, if he is to galvanise his troops, and take them one step further than last season by securing promotion to the Premier League.
One particular area of the Leeds squad that needs addressing is their defence, after Kyle Bartley’s loan spell with the club ended, and any hopes of securing a permanent deal for the Swansea man becoming ever more unrealistic with each week that passes.
With this in mind, the West Yorkshire outfit should consider a move for former Arsenal centre-back Johan Djourou, who will be a free agent at the end of this month when his contract with Bundesliga side Hamburger SV expires.
The 30-year-old, along with his wealth of experience, would be a useful addition to a Whites squad that is currently desperately bereft of any so-called ‘old heads’ who have been around the block.
Many blamed Leeds’ lack of experience for their failure to secure a play-off spot last term, when they won just one of their final eight Championship games.
Standing at 6ft 3in, the Switzerland international is dominant in the air, and quick along the ground. He would add a much needed level of authority to the Whites’ back-line, whilst also posing an added threat from set-pieces.

The Hamburg centre-back was on around £25,000 per week in Germany, so Leeds should be able to match that kind of package, if they decided to try and tempt him into moving to Elland Road.
And if they do manage to secure his signature, it could turn out to be a signing of real significance.
