Arsenal have been linked with the addition of Denis Zakaria this week.

According to The Sun, Arsenal are keen on the Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder.

Given that he’s out of contract next summer, Zakaria could be available for a cut-price fee as early as January.

And one man who seems keen on seeing the move to North London materialise is Johan Djourou.

The former Gunners centre-back played alongside Zakaria for their native Switzerland.

And the 34-year-old, who quit the Emirates Stadium club in 2014, has ‘liked’ an Instagram post about the powerhouse potentially joining his old side.

Realistic?

Well, no.

Arsenal’s interest doesn’t really add up, truth be told.

Mikel Arteta might need another midfielder in January amid speculation that Mohamed Elneny is off to Galatasaray.

But with Granit Xhaka, Thomas Partey and Albert Sambi Lokonga already there, somebody of Zakaria’s profile won’t be needed.

The Swiss star is earning £51,000 per week right now and given his stature in the game, he can expect to double that at his next club.

However, are Arsenal going to pay him £100,000 per week when he isn’t even guaranteed to start every game?

It makes little to no sense for Arteta and Edu to go after Zakaria, unfortunately for Djourou.
