Rangers have been linked with Glenn Hoddle replacing Graeme Murty.
There is more uncertainty than ever over Glasgow Rangers’ manager job after Graeme Murty’s side lost 4-0 to Celtic last weekend.
Bookies this week cut odds on Glenn Hoddle taking the Ibrox job, making him a 5/1 contender, seemingly out of nowhere.
Hoddle, 60, has been out of management for 11 years, last in charge at Wolves in 2006.
If Hoddle did land the job at Rangers, ex-Light Blues midfielder Joey Barton would be a heavy critic.
Barton worked under Hoddle at QPR briefly where Hoddle had a short stint as coach.
While playing for Rangers in 2016, Barton hit out at Hoddle when he was linked with the England job.
He posted on Twitter, the Glasgow Evening Times reported: “He was manager 18 yrs ago. Trust me he’s miles away now. Will only take us backwards. Not the answer. Out of touch.”
Hoddle works regularly s a pundit and co-commentator and is close to ex-Rangers star Mark Hateley, with the pair playing at Monaco together.
It is unclear if Hoddle is even targeting a return to management, especially with Rangers, but he would be a intriguing option… even if Barton would strongly disagree.
