Everton’s one-time target Marco Silva has become available.

Joey Barton has said on talkSPORT’s Sports Breakfast show, broadcast on January 22, that Everton should make a move for Marco Silva.
The Portuguese manager is free after being sacked by Watford on Sunday, with the Hornets winning just one of their last 11 Premier League games under him.
Things haven’t seemed right at Vicarage Road since then-managerless Everton offered them £15 million compensation to hire the 40-year-old, though the London club refused.

The Toffees ultimately hired Sam Allardyce but, despite a promising start, Everton’s form has started to tail off, with Allardyce’s side without a win in six Premier league outings.
And Joey Barton suggests that the Goodison Park club should renew their interest in Silva and part company with Allardyce, who signed an 18-month deal in November.

He told talkSPORT: “If he’s Everton’s number one target then why haven’t Everton gone, ‘Oh our number one target is now available’?
“It’s not really happening under Sam. They’re not really liking it on Merseyside. They’re not enjoying the way he’s playing.”
Even though Everton’s form has dipped, it seems unlikely that they would part company with Allardyce this early, but if it means getting to Silva before somebody else then who knows.
