Former Everton manager David Moyes is now in charge of West Ham United.
Everton are on the hunt for a new manager following the departure of Ronald Koeman due to a run of poor results in the Premier League.
West Ham also made a managerial change recently, dismissing Slaven Bilic to bring in Moyes.
Moyes is a former Everton manager and did a great job during his time at Goodison Park, and ex-Queens Park Rangers and Manchester City midfielder Barton has suggested that the Toffees should have approached the former Manchester United and Sunderland boss.
Barton said on The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Monday morning (06:10am, November 27, 2017): “I honestly believe Everton have missed the trick by not… David showed that he was prepared to go in and work in the short term to prove himself again.
“How Everton haven’t gone in and got David Moyes just to cover the gap between Koeman and whoever it is they want to appoint…”
“I think if Everton are serious about staying up, they need to get on the phone to like a Tony Pulis,” added Barton (06:40am). “Brendan Rodgers, they haven’t picked the phone up to.”
Moyes may not have succeeded at Manchester United, Real Sociedad or Sunderland, but there is no doubt that the Scotsman is a very competent manager.
The former Sunderland boss would have been a good short-term managerial appointment for Everton, but it seems that they are now set to hand Sam Allardyce that role, as reported by The Guardian.
