Joey Barton has completed his exit from Rangers after a protracted contract wrangle.
Joey Barton has taken to Twitter to send a message to Rangers fans after his departure from the club was confirmed earlier this afternoon.
Barton, 34, helped Burnley win promotion from the Championship last season, but turned his back on a return to the Premier League in order to join Rangers on a two-year deal.

Having only just been promoted back to the Scottish Premiership, Barton was seen as a major coup for Rangers – but his time in Glasgow quickly became a nightmare.
Barton not only struggled in his eight games for Rangers, but was then involved in a training ground spat with manager Mark Warburton and team-mate Andy Halliday, leading to an almost two month suspension.

Barton’s suspension was lifted last week, enabling him to train with the Rangers academy, but terms have now been agreed on the midfielder’s departure from Ibrox.
Rangers confirmed on their official website earlier today that Barton’s contract has been terminated with immediate effect, enabling him to work on finding a new club ahead of the January transfer window.

After his departure was confirmed by the club, Barton took to Twitter to send a message to Rangers fans, thanking them for their support.
Barton wishes Rangers all the best for the future, claiming that the fans offered incredible support throughout his time at Ibrox.
