Joey Barton was asked if he had ever come close to signing for Leeds United.

Joey Barton has responded to a Leeds United fan to distance himself from claims he once came close to signing for the club.
Communicating via Twitter, Barton was quizzed over whether a deal was ever on the cards.
Barton expressed his admiration for Leeds but said that he never took part in any discussions over a move.
Barton was linked with potentially signing for Leeds in 2015, with the Express and The Sun reporting at the time he was wanted by club owner Massimo Cellino.

Former Leeds boss Neil Redfearn told the Yorkshire Post in 2016 that he wanted to sign Barton during his spell at the club, but Barton distanced himself from these claims.
Barton is currently serving a ban for betting on football matches, games he was not involved in, and this suspension runs until June.
He intends to resume playing but he will be 36 next September.
The situation at Leeds is a lot more stable now Andrea Radrizzani has taken over the club, but there are no indications at present that Barton is player they would consider next season.
