Joey Barton has suggested that he feels sorry for Slaven Bilic, after his dismissal from West Ham United.

West Ham announced that they had parted company with Bilic earlier today, following their poor start to the season.

And Barton felt that the decision to let Bilic go has been inevitable for a long time now.

Bilic was sacked by West Ham, with the London side sitting in 18th place in the Premier League table.

The Hammers were beaten 4-1 by Liverpool at the weekend, and the heavy defeat proved to be the final straw for Bilic.

The Croatian boss has had to deal with growing calls for him to be sacked in recent weeks, and with West Ham’s poor performances continuing, the voices of discontent were only growing louder.

West Ham have suggested that they will be seeking to put a new manager in charge very quickly, and David Moyes looks a certainty to take over now.

Moyes is currently a 1/20 shout with the bookies to be the next Hammers boss, with a deal now looking very close.
