Joey Barton is keen on a switch to Everton this summer and left a cryptic Twitter post earlier today in reference to his desire.
Joey Barton has been in the news today – after it was suggested he was actively seeking a move to boyhood club Everton.
These were the words of his agent Willie McKay earlier today…
‘’I spoke to Roberto to see if he would be interested in taking Joey. I told him that Joey would love to join Everton and that they are the only club he willing to lose money to play for.’’
Barton’s previous ambition was to sign a permanent deal with Marseille – but he was not willing to take a pay-cut to move to the South of France.
No it seems only a move back to where he started his footballing education is the only way he would consider a large reduction in his pay-packet.
Now – while opinion will be split on whether Barton would be a decent signing or not – that pay cut will have to be pretty handsome to consider it.
I do not personally believe he is better than the likes of Leon Osman, Marouane Fellaini or Darron Gibson – so he will only be playing a handful of games.
Any reduction in his salary would have to be reflected justly.
This morning however Barton took to his favourite mouthpiece to leave a cryptic clue over his future choice of club for the entire world to see…
But hang on … haven’t I heard that before…
