Joey Barton didn’t hold back with his insight into Newcastle’s 3-2 defeat against Everton.

The QPR midfielder watched the home side race into a 3-0 half-time lead, courtesy of a Romelu Lukaku brace and Ross Barkley drive.

Barton, who played for Newcastle between 2007 and 2011, described French defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa as “s***e” after getting his name wrong. He also issued a rallying cry for his former teammates to “show the pride that shirt deserves”.
