Tottenham Hotspur are currently in sixth place in the Premier League table.

Joey Barton has told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, which was broadcast on TalkSPORT on 4th December, that he feels Kyle Walker will be glad he left Tottenham Hotspur to join Manchester City.

Walker effectively forced through a move away from Spurs to join City in the summer, and his decision appears to have been vindicated.

City currently lead the way in England’s top flight, after making the best start in Premier League history.

Tottenham, meanwhile, are yet to truly click into top gear – with their Premier League form concerning.

Spurs have failed to win any of their last four matches, and are currently sat in sixth place in the Premier League table.

And Barton feels that Walker’s departure could lead to many other of Tottenham’s players following suit in the coming years.

He said: “You see Kyle Walker has left them to go to City. It’s been the right decision. The lads will be aware of that. It’s only a matter of time before the rest of them do.”

Tottenham arguably need to keep hold of Champions League football, if they are to avoid having some of their top talents plucked.

Spurs’ success over recent times has seen many of their key players attract attention, and without elite level European football on offer, keeping hold of them could be a challenge.

Tottenham are still right in the thick of the top four battle, but will need to get back to winning ways sooner rather than later, to avoid falling too far behind the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea.

Spurs’ next match comes in midweek, when they take on APOEL in Champions League group stage action.
