Pundit Joey Barton has taken to Twitter to offer his prediction for Burnley versus Newcastle United, backing the hosts to claim a one-goal win.

Burnley head into the game having lost 3-0 at Manchester City last weekend, but a two-goal win tonight can take them above Liverpool up into sixth place in the table.

The problem for manager Sean Dyche – who continues to be linked with the Everton job – is that Burnley have won just once at home this season, and seem to be better-suited to playing away from home.

Dyche will be hoping to claim a win at Turf Moor tonight, as Newcastle United arrive in town with the chance to also leapfrog Liverpool into sixth spot in the Premier League.

The Magpies beat Crystal Palace 1-0 last weekend thanks to Mikel Merino’s late goal, meaning that Rafael Benitez has now won four games in nine Premier League outings this season.

Newcastle are going well right now, looking like a solid unit upon their return to the Premier League, and they will be hoping for another three points this evening to cement their strong start.

Ahead of tonight’s game, one man who played for both teams – Joey Barton – has taken to Twitter to respond to one fan who asked for a prediction for the game.

Barton responded by suggesting that he thinks Burnley will win by a single goal, noting that both sides are doing well right now, but he’s picking the Clarets to come out on top.
