West Bromwich Albion’s dreadful run in the Premier League continued at the weekend.

Joey Barton has told The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast on talkSPORT (broadcast on 6th November 2017; 8:43 am) that he thought that West Brom were awful in their clash with Huddersfield at the weekend, and suggested that he cannot see what Manchester City see in Jonny Evans.
Tony Pulis’ men’s poor run in the Premier League continued at the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday as a Rajiv van la Parra strike saw the Terriers secure a 1-0 win, which leaves the Baggies without a win since August and just one point above the bottom three in the top flight.
And Barton did not hold back in his criticism of the performance and Pulis’ team selection – while he also admitted that he could not understand why Evans has been linked with Manchester City, which has recently been reported by The Sun.
“He’s playing Nyom at right wing-back, who ended up a right-back. You’ve got Hegazi – who is a big unit, but looks, at times, very, very immobile – Evans, I don’t get how Man City were trying to sign Evans, I don’t see that, McAuley and Gibbs. And honest to God, they just had no invention.”
As mentioned, the performance against Huddersfield has certainly not been an anomaly for West Brom this term, with four draws and five losses coming in their last nine league games.
Their poor run stretches back further also, with just three top flight wins coming since the start of March – and a continuation of that run will surely see their situation become even more desperate.
And Pulis must surely now feel that he is beginning to run out of time to turn West Brom’s fortunes around as keeping sides in the league has been his speciality in the past – and if he looks unable to do that, then there is surely little reason for the Baggies hierarchy to keep faith with him.
